There’s a classic marketing rule that states that we need to see a marketing message at least eight times before we act on it. And that’s an average figure.
Sometimes you may react instantly to something, or you may need to mull things over a while and need the message reinforced 12, 15 or 20 times before you do something about it.
Or maybe you’re just not ready to buy “˜now’ but you will be in 3 or 6 months’ time – but only if I keep in touch with you so that you don’t forget about me.
So, if you’re promoting your business, then not only do you have to continually keep in touch with people, but you also have to tell them what you have to sell. If you’re not selling anything, you have a hobby not a business. Harsh, I know, but true. And if you are selling things, then you can’t expect people to “just know” that’s what you have to offer – you have to keep telling them so that when they’re ready to buy, they’ll buy your product or service.
I come across quite a few people who don’t really tell anyone what they actually sell?they’re too shy or fearful about “hard selling” and coming across too strong.
The thing is, if you’re passionate about what you do and you genuinely know that your product or service will help your clients or is just the thing that they’re after, AND if you are talking to the right kind of people, then the “selling” bit should be natural, fun and authentic, and won’t be like hard selling at all.
So?my question to you is?.how many times do you talk to people about what you do, what you can provide, what products you sell and (most importantly) what benefits you can bring to them?
Do you tell them with passion, from a point of truly loving what you have to sell, and with their best interests at heart?
Attract the right people to you?tell them what you do with passion and why they will benefit?and you WILL get clients or customers.
Shy away from telling anyone, or trying to be all things to all people, and you won’t!
